Concord Police get into a defensive position behind their police cars as they arrive to a home on Rosebrook Court after receiving reports of a man with a gun in Concord, Calif., on Monday, May 27, 2024. At 6:23 pm, Concord Police investigated reports of a man with a gun on Rosebrook Court in Concord. Officers on scene reported two shots were fired. Clayton Police responded to provide assistance. Neighbors in the court were evacuated by police. At 7:55 p.m. Concord Police issued a shelter in place asking the public to avoid the area south of Cowell Road from St. Francis Drive to Ridge Park Drive. At 8:28 p.m. the suspect emerged from the house with a gun in his hand and was placed into custody. Neighbors confirmed that the man with the gun lived at the end of the court and walked into a neighbors house and held a woman and child hostage. The man with the gun released the woman and child and remained in the neighbors house until he emerged and was arrested without incident. (Jose Carlos Fajardo/Bay Area News Group)
