Tarantino Planning Django Unchained Crossover Film With Zorro
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and then this?!
Quentin Tarantino's next film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, doesn't release until later this summer. According to a new report from Collider however, it seems as though he already has his next project nailed down - an adaptation of the Django/Zorro crossover comic from 2012.
Collider state in their report that Jerrod Carmichael is set to write the script, which will itself be an adaptation of the comic co-written by Tarantino and comic book writer Matt Wagner. The comic was set several years after the events of 2012's Django Unchained, and sees the eponymous bounty hunter team up with cinema's longest running hero as he continues to head west, taking bounties and avoiding the warrant placed on his head.
Slightly more peculiar, perhaps, is that Tarantino's involvement in the project is less clear. Collider mention how the director had email exchanges with Sony producer Amy Pascal a few years back where both were in agreement that a Django/Zorro crossover would be "super cool." The article then goes onto speculate that it's more likely that Tarantino will simply produce the film rather than direct it, with the filmmaker set on retiring after the release of his tenth picture.
Either way, more Django can only be a good thing. Even better, though, would be if Antonio Banderas could reprise his role as Zorro. Who could say no to Jamie Foxx and Banderas sharing the same screen?
